My “new” Shoes

September 20, 2015 By J Leave a Comment

Sadly, after (being truly blessed and incredibly lucky) staying off work for an extra 2 years following my mat leave, I had to return to my desk job… and therefore, footwear 🙁

They may not be perfect, but there they are… my ideal footwear

For those of you who know me, you know that my preferred footwear is none at all. For me, barefoot is the way to be. I loathe putting on socks and shoes and love to feel the earth beneath my feet. Gardens, puddles, forest… You get the point.

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, most office dress codes don’t allow people to go barefoot; plus, it is probably kinda gross and likely unsafe to do so in an old government building.

I’ve always loved thrift-shopping. In grade 7, my best friend and I would look forward to getting a ride to the nearest city not to go to the mall, but to go to Goodwill. I love how second-hand jeans come already naturally broken in, and used clothing doesn’t come with unnecessary bags, boxes, stuffing and other waste. You can even save some money, but even if the prices were equal, I choose to buy used.

Here are my scores at a single outing to Value Village for back-to-work footwear:

Shazam!

Some of these shoes were never-worn, stickers-and-tags-still on. Not that that matters to me, but ultimately they are all in great shape. I am not a big shopper and I don’t care about ‘Brand Names’; however, I made note of the brands above, just fyi. I easily could have spent $180+ on these puppies. Instead I got five pairs for a total of $55.95 CAD (+tax)… Not only that, but there was no unnecessary packaging, no shipping, no need to go to three stores. Love. It.

Happy thrifting!
