L’Oven began as 2 sisters launching an on-demand bakery (partly due to their loooooooove of baking and partly as a much-needed distraction from a life-changing diagnosis). By educating themselves on nutrient-dense foods and networking with local food producers at Ottawa-area farmers markets, L’Oven evolved to offer fantastically delicious baked goods made with ingredients like beets, parsnip, avocado, turmeric, pumpkin and chia seeds.
For a few years, the L’Oven sisters managed to juggle their full-time careers with their passion for baking – catering weddings, supplying cafes and attending local events. New ideas and requests for recipes led to the exhilarating concept of a L’Oven cookbook. Oven mitts were cast aside for note pads and laptops, but as families grew, the book became less of a priority. Throughout nursing (and creating food for) growing babies, recipe ideas continued to brew – along with new passions such as sustainable living, foraging and natural movement. And so, naturally, L’Oven Life was born – a space to share not only healthy recipes, but also gardening tips, environmentally conscious crafting ideas and local vendors/workshop recommendations.
